     Edie V. Jurek, age 65, Waite Park, MN died peacefully at her home on Friday, July 14, 2006.
     A celebration of her life will be Tuesday, July 18, 2006, at 7:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home Chapel, St. Cloud, MN. Rev. Heather Klason will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN. Private family burial will be in North Star Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN.
     Edie Jurek was born on October 22, 1940, in St. Cloud, MN to Darrell and Vera (Wilford) Brower. She graduated from Kimball High School in 1958. Edie married Larry Johnson on October 17, 1959, in Kimball, MN. Larry preceded her in death on November 12, 1993, after 34 years of marriage. Edie attended Minneapolis Business School. She was a homemaker/mother all her life, and worked at Coborns and then at Lund’s Farmer Seed & Nursery for many years. Edie married Gene Jurek on November 23, 2002, in Sartell, MN.
     Edie’s life was filled with family, friends, cooking and music. She was a caregiver, lover of animals, wonderful companion, and had a miraculous green thumb.
     Survivors include her husband, Gene Jurek of Waite Park, MN; daughter and sons, Jill Gerharz (Tim) of Plainfield, Ill; Dan Johnson (Barb) of Mora, MN; Cory Johnson (Paul Amann) of Minneapolis, MN; four grandchildren, Kelli and Peter Gerharz and Emma and Samuel Johnson; two sisters, Donna Jude of Annandale, MN and Audrey Marquardt of Kimball, MN; also extended family including two daughters, Heather Jurek and April (Craig) Schuller; nine grandchildren; four sisters-in-laws and three brother-in-laws.
     Edie was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother.
     Memorials are preferred to Coborn’s Cancer Center or St. Therese Center.
     Edie’s family would like to thank the St. Cloud Hospital Hospice Staff for the Care and Support they gave her.
