     Elmer C. Sheggeby, age 93, St. Cloud, MN died Saturday, February 28, 2004 at St. Benedict’s Nursing Home, St. Cloud, MN.
     Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at 11:00 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be Monday, March 1, 2004 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.
     Elmer Sheggeby was born May 24, 1910 in Echo, MN to Sven and Anna (Kollin) Sheggeby. He was baptized and confirmed at Rock Valley Lutheran Church, Echo, MN. He was educated in country schools and Lutheran Normal High School in Madison, MN. Elmer graduated from St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN in 1934. He then attended Kirksville, MO College of Osteopathy, becoming an Osteopathic Physician in 1939. He started a practice in Montevideo, MN. During WWII he served in the US Army, assigned to Army hospitals in Trinidad & England. On leave he married Dolores Graves on March 11, 1944. After the war, he resumed his practice in Montevideo. While there, he was active in the American Legion, Lion’s Club and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, serving in all leadership capacities. In 1962, the family relocated to St. Cloud where he continued as an Osteopath until 1985, retiring at age 75. He served on several boards at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Cloud.
     Elmer enjoyed hunting, golf, church activities, bridge, his family and friends. He maintained good health through out his life, jogging in the 1950’s long before running became popular, and he took up downhill skiing at age 60.
     Elmer is survived by his daughters, Ann Albertson of Minneapolis, MN; Kristen (David) Campbell of Minneapolis, MN; five grandchildren, Bryan (Jamie) Albertson, Heather Albertson, Sean Campbell, Angela Campbell, Elaine Campbell; two sisters, Florence Anderson and Berdella Lien; one brother-in-law, Jennings Anderson; two sisters-in-laws, Adeline Graves and LaVon Graves; nieces and nephews.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Dolores on Sept. 24, 2003, four brothers and one sister.
     His family and friends are blessed to have had him in our lives. He will remain in our hearts forever.
