Jean Marie Bense
Mesa, AZ
August 18, 1929 – May 6, 2025
Jean M. Bense, age 95, of Mesa, AZ, formerly of St. Cloud passed away on May 6, 2025, is Mesa, AZ.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Benson Funeral Home in St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Sartell.
Jean Marie Wylie was born August 18, 1929 to Roland and Arvilla Wylie.  
She graduated from Tech High School in St. Cloud and St. Cloud Teacher’s College. She was a teacher at Apollo High School in St. Cloud.
On April 17, 1949 she married William “Bill” Bense at Sartell Presbyterian Church. This union was blessed with two children, Deborah Jean and William James III. Bill and Jean enjoyed their family very much and both enjoyed travelling, reading, and spending their summers at Velvet Beach, Brainerd, MN and winters in Mesa, AZ. They were lifetime members of First Presbyterian Church in St. Cloud, MN. After the death of her husband in 2013, Jean continued to make her home in Arizona. She passed away after many years with dementia.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Joyce Nuernberg; nephews, Roland (Paula) Karjalahti and Rick (Connie) Karjalahti; niece, Susan (Greg) Pawelk; great-nieces, Erika and Katie Karjalahti  and great-nephews, Eric and Joel (Catherine) Pawelk.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, William; daughter, Deborah; son, William; sister and brother-in-law, Janice (Wallace) Karjalahti; and brother-in-law, Charles Nuernberg.
Memorials are preferred to First Presbyterian Church in St. Cloud or the charity of your choice.
