Shirley Ann Bauer, age 93, of Sartell, formerly of St. Cloud passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Country Manor Campus, Sartell.


A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on March 13. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud.


Shirley was born on January 30, 1930 in St. Cloud to John and Mabel (Clarity) Herzing. After high school she attended the St. Cloud Business College and worked as a secretary at the St. Regis Paper Mill until she dedicated herself to raising five children. She was a member of the St. Cloud Women's Chorus. Shirley was a charter member of the MN Association for the Hearing Impaired and also of the Central MN Watercolorists. She volunteered at the St. Cloud Hospital beginning in 1986 and was also a long-time volunteer at the Munsinger Gardens gift shop. Shirley attended St. Michael’s Catholic Church where she was a charter member. She enjoyed gardening, watercolor painting, music, sewing, studying French, and traveling throughout the U.S. and several other countries. She was also an avid cross-country skier and loved the outdoors.


Shirley is survived by her children, Mary Bauer of St. Paul, Cathy (Rick) Bauer Schuett of Shoreview, and Robert (Laura) Bauer of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Daria (John) McMillan and Gabriella Schuett, and Sophia and Jackson Bauer. 


She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norman; son, David; daughter, Cynthia; and brothers, Arthur, Robert and Richard Herzing and sister Rita McNeal.
