Betty Jean M. Sanders, 97
Sauk Rapids, MN
June 26, 1925 – May 2, 2023
Betty Jean M. Sanders, 97, went to be with her Lord and loved ones on May 2, 2023 at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Sauk Rapids, MN.
Funeral services for Betty Jean will be held June 17, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Living Hope Fellowship in Ortonville, MN, with Pastor David Homrighausen officiating. Visitation one hour prior to service. Arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
Betty Jean was born June 26, 1925 to Alex and Jennie (Carlson) Holmblad. She was confirmed at Elim Lutheran Church in Clinton, MN and graduated from Clinton High School with the class of 1943. While in high school she met the love of her life – Bill Sanders. They were married October 30, 1943. To this union two children were born – a daughter, Connie, and a son, Loyd.
Betty Jean and Bill farmed east of Clinton at “Sanders Corner” for many years. She was a member of Malta Homemakers and the Methodist Ladies Aid. In 1968 they sold the farm and purchased the East Side Grocery in Ortonville. She later worked in the kitchen at the Ortonville Hospital, the DMV office and was manager of the Ortonville Senior Center.
After retirement she moved to Perham, MN to be closer to her kids and then moved to Sauk Rapids with her daughter.
Throughout her life Betty Jean enjoyed reading, sewing and cheering for the Twins and Vikings. She also enjoyed watching NASCAR after going to some races with Connie and Loyd.
Betty Jean is survived by daughter, Connie, Sauk Rapids; sisters, Jeanette Wheeler, Arlington, WA; and Carole (Dale) Sittig, Lenexa, KS; and sister-in-law Patricia Holmblad, Sartell, MN; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bill, son, Loyd, brothers, Herbert, Donald, Marvin, Charles and Kenny and sister LaVonne Newton.
Betty Jean was a wonderful person who will be missed by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace.
