    Joyce E. Bell, 84
    St. Cloud, MN
    December 15, 1938 – April 25, 2023

Joyce Elaine Bell, age 84, of St. Cloud, MN, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, in Tucson, AZ.
Born in Cherokee, IA, on December 15, 1938, to Ralph and Lois (Lickteig) Blankenbaker, Joyce married Lowell Bell on October 28, 1961, in Pierre, SD. They welcomed their son James, in 1963, and daughter Anne, in 1966. The family moved to St. Cloud in 1970, where she enjoyed many years raising their children, shaping lifelong friendships and nurturing her love of people as an active community volunteer.
Joyce spent her life giving her time, talents and love to others. Through her work in administration locally and admissions at St. Cloud Hospital, she established deep connections with many area families throughout the community. Upon retiring from St. Cloud Hospital after 18 years of service, Joyce continued to volunteer extensively throughout her life.
Joyce’s greatest joys were gardening and spending time with children. She was known for her beautiful flowers, especially the yellow ones! A generous soul, her close circle of friends could always count on her to help care for their children as needed. Much of the time she selflessly gave throughout her life was spent with children or organizing enrichment efforts for community causes.
In the twilight of her life, Joyce moved to Tucson, where she spent the last months of her life reuniting and building memories with extended family. She will be laid to rest in her hometown, at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Cherokee, IA.
Joyce is survived by her son, James (Elizabeth) Bell of Tucson, AZ; and daughter, Anne (Shawn) Bell – Blackburn, of Waite Park, MN; She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Lois Blankenbaker; sister Sandra; and husband, Lowell Z. Bell.
A mass celebrating Joyce’s life officiated by Father Scott Pogatchnik and with music by Chris Reicher will be held on Wednesday, May 10th at 6:00 pm at Benson Funeral Home Chapel, 1111 25th Ave S., in St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Poor Clare Monastery in Sauk Rapids, MN, are preferred.
