    April 3, 1951 – May 11, 2021

David G. Larson, age 70, of St. Cloud, died Tuesday, May 11, 2021 in Strickland, WI as the result of an automobile accident.

A memorial gathering celebrating Dave’s life will be held from 1:00-10:00pm on Sunday, June 6th at the East Side VFW Post 4847, St. Cloud. Arrangements are with Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud.

David Gary Larson was born on April 3, 1951 in Minneapolis, MN to Arnold and Minnie (Sprigler) Larson. He was raised in Plymouth, MN with his sister Karen. Dave graduated from Benilde-St. Margaret Academy in 1969 and then later attended St. Cloud University where he became a brother of the fraternity, Tau Kappa Epsilon. On August 30, 1982 he married Margaret Bach. During their marriage they had two children, whom he loved dearly. He had a passion for cooking and planning gatherings. This passion led him to the East Side VFW Post 4847 where he was manager for 30 plus years and made lifelong friends. He loved helping plan and host events there and his Friday night fish fry’s were legendary. Friends and family always looked forward to enjoying his cooking, baking, and smoked meats. He enjoyed watching MN sports teams and was an avid Twins fan but most of all, he was a fan of fishing. As his son, Jon, said, “His fishing skills exceeded those of the average human”. He was the happiest out on the water with a rod in his hand and friends beside him. During his time on the waters he shared much of his skills with others and even once saved a child from drowning on the Mississippi. Dave’s greatest love was his family and he cherished time with his children and grandchildren. Dave was loved and will be missed by many. Among the many treasured memories will be his signature saying, “The one thing I never had too much of was fun!”
Dave is survived by his children, DeeAnn (Dustin) Benik of Princeton and Jon (Rebekah Israel) Larson of Skagway, AK; grandchildren Sophia and Theodore Benik; and sister, Karen Larson of Zimmerman.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents.
