    Mark William Miller, Sr. age 77, of Lincoln Nebraska, formerly of St. Cloud, went to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, December 24th, 2020, at his home in Lincoln, NE surrounded by his family.
    Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday, January 1, 2021, at Benson Funeral Home in St. Cloud and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Parish Prayer/Rosary will be at 4:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Noon on Saturday in Saint Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Little Falls, MN.
    He was born September 19, 1943 to Stanley and Rose (Klasen) Miller in St. Paul, Minnesota. After graduating from St. Paul Central High School in 1961, Mark attended St. Cloud State University, graduating with a B.A. in Political Science and Sociology, a B.S. in Elementary Education, and M.S. in Elementary School Administration. Mark was united in marriage to Carol Friendshuh on June 5, 1965 in Albertville, MN. In 1971, he served as a teacher then as an assistant principal at St. John’s Elementary School in Foley, Minnesota. In 1977, he moved to North Platte, Nebraska, where he taught 6th Grade reading, language arts, social studies, and mathematics at McDonald Elementary School before moving with the 6th grade level to Madison Middle School. He retired in 2000 and moved to Lincoln to spend time with his three children, where he worked part time for the Nebraska Department of Labor, Office of Unemployment Insurance as a Claim Specialist. After a short stay in Wisconsin, Mark moved in 2005 to Waite Park, Minnesota, back to his roots of Stearns County.
    Mark was an active member at each church he belonged to, most recently St. Mary Cathedral in St. Cloud, Minnesota where he sang in the choir. He is known for his long road trips to visit his loved ones, especially his children and grandchildren. He thoroughly enjoyed fishing and spent much of his time in the summer at Bass Lake, near Swanville/Burtrum, Minnesota with his sister, Helen, and brother-in-law, Alan. Mark was actively involved in the community, including academic clubs, softball coaching, volunteering at a thrift shop and reading local and world news to the blind on a weekly public radio program. Mark had a deep love for music, especially doo-wop and rock ‘n’ roll. He is well known for whistling his way through just about every task he worked on, as well as singing in church choirs and the Friends In Harmony rock ‘n’ roll group as a baritone. He also enjoyed bicycling, and went on 50-mile bike tours in Minnesota.
    Survivors include his children, Mark “Bill” (Sarah) Miller, Jr., Patrick (Tricia) Miller, Anne (Michael) Sinclair, 14 grandchildren, 2 great-granddaughters, sister Helen Richard, nephews, nieces, and many cousins.
    He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Carol (Friendshuh) Miller, baby girl Mary, and brother-in-law, Alan Richard.
    In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Catholic Relief Services.
