    Truman E. Nelson, 80
    St. Cloud, MN
    September 15, 1939 – April 2, 2020

Truman Errol Nelson, age 80, St. Cloud, MN, passed away peacefully at home on April 2, 2020 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
A private family graveside service will be held Friday, July 17, 2020 at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN with full military honors. A Celebration of Truman's life will be held Saturday, July 18, 2020 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the home of Tammy and Rich Novak. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
Truman was born on September 15, 1939 in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Charles Manford and Lucille (Kiger) Nelson. Truman was a proud Veteran, serving in the Navy aboard the USS Franklin D Roosevelt. Truman married the love of his life, Karen Linette Arens, on December 26, 1959 in Watkins, Minnesota. He loved and cherished his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all the friends he gathered along his way, who became family to him as well. Anyone who knew Truman got to see first-hand his gift of storytelling and ability to make everyone he encountered laugh. He loved to hunt and fish with his family, and he and Karen spent many years cruizin in their chopped ‘51 Mercury with their car club friends. Truman was a salesman in the St. Cloud area for many years.
Truman is survived by his loving wife, Karen Linette, his children, Terry (Caryn) Nelson, Tammy (Richard) Novak, Tracanne (Randy) Legatt, and Thomas Nelson, grandchildren, Ryan (Beth) Murphy, Kara (Ryan Olson) Murphy, Charlie (Alicia Lewis) Nelson, Kassee Nelson, Abby (Jordan) Carriveau, Andrew (Kelsey) Legatt, and great-grandchildren, Ashton, Lily, Lydia, Torin, Olivia, Avyana, Carter, Brayden, Bentley, Bryson, Devon, and Jaxson, as well as brothers-in-law, Rick Brock, Jeff Murphy, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom he dearly loved.
Truman was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law, Cecile and Ben Arens, and sisters Nancy Carol Nelson and Karen Linette Brock.
The family would like to thank Dr. Al-Khhatib, and all of the staff at Coborn’s Cancer Center, as well as Dr. Sather and his staff at the VA Medical Center for their loving care of Truman.
