     James Harry Benn, age 82, Waite Park, MN died Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, St. Cloud, MN.
     Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Atonement Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN. Due to his love of hunting the family would like to encourage those attending the service to wear hunting attire. Arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
     James was born on October 16, 1935 in Sauk Rapids, MN to Harry and Hazel (Grovendor) Benn. He served in the United States Air Force from 1954-1958. James was married to Marilyn Peel on September 10, 1960 in St. Cloud, MN. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Pharmacology. Jim worked as a pharmacist at the St. Cloud Hospital before taking a position at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center where he worked for over 30 years before retiring in 1990 as the Assistant Chief Pharmacist. After retiring he worked part time at the St. Cloud Reformatory and at Ah-Gwah-Ching State Hospital, Walker, MN. He enjoyed traveling the world and spending time at the cabin on Leech Lake, moving there in 1994. Jim loved being outdoors, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, and jet skiing; he especially loved deer and bird hunting, and fishing.
     Jim is survived by his son, Jeff (Jacqueline) Benn, Clearwater, MN; sister, Janet (Don) Nelson, Fridley, MN; grandchildren, Mariah, Marilin and Jeffrey Benn, Nicole (Ryan) Snyder, and Ryan (Adrianne) Pauling; and three great-grandchildren.
     He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn on June 1, 2014; and daughter Margaret Benn on Dec 9, 2016.
     In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Atonement Lutheran Church.
