     Esther A. Olson Matthews, age 85, Bradenton, FL formerly of St. Cloud, MN died unexpectedly of a sudden cardiac event on Sunday, February 4, 2018 in Bradenton, FL.
     Funeral services will be Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 12:00 Noon at First Presbyterian Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be Friday, February 16, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday. Burial will be in North Star Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN later the following week.
     Esther was born April 25, 1932 in North Platte, NE to Lewis and Opal (Bakewell) Wescoat. She grew up on the family farm near Stapleton, Nebraska and attended Stapleton High School (Baker Rural High School) from which she graduated as valedictorian of her class. She married Del Roth who preceded her in death. Esther then married Robert G. Olson on January 18, 1973 in Las Vegas, NV. He died on December 20, 1995. She then married Chuck Matthews on Sept 4, 2004.
     Esther was employed as secretary to the President at Turnquist Paper Company after meeting her first husband Del Roth at Sears and Roebuck. In St. Cloud she co-owned and operated the Gas Service Company with her second husband, Robert Olson. Esther was a member of First Presbyterian Church of St. Cloud, and a member of many organizations including the Osman Shrine Auxiliary.
     Esther was generous and kind, passionate, loved adventure and traveled around the world. She loved life, the Vikings, family and many special friends.
     Survivors include her husband, Chuck Matthews of Bradenton, FL; daughter, Sheryl L. (George Rogers) Roth Rogers of Martha's Vineyard, MA; son, Russ (Rose) Roth of Cold Spring, MN; grandchildren, Jessica Rogers, Brianna Rogers, Sara (Ryan) Gatzke, Nick (Christina) Roth, Misty Martinez and Mike Martinez; great grandchildren, Bella and Avril Gatzke, Collin, Caleb, Keegan and Eli Roth, and MacKenzie, Vada and Scarlett Martinez; sister, Violet (Bob) Hall of Denver, CO; step children, Mary Miller of Duluth, MN; Janet Hainlin of Sartell, MN; Barb Betz of Cold Spring, MN; grandchildren, Lindsay and Eric Miller, Jenny (Jeff) Lindstrom, Jason and Adam Hainlin, Paul "Cheetos" (Nicole) Betz and 4 step great grandchildren; children of husband Chuck Matthews, Lynn (Scott) Hogle of Orlando, FL and Chuck Matthews Jr of Streamwood, IL.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Del Roth and Robert Olson, and brothers, Harold and Howard Wescoat.
     Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
