Margaret Eleanor Cavanna
December 29, 1919- December 22, 2017
A Celebration of Life and Requiem Eucharist for Margaret E. Cavanna will take place on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Benson Funeral Home, 1111 25th Avenue South, St. Cloud. The Rev. Dr. Robert C. Cavanna will officiate. Private inurnment follows the service in North Star Cemetery.
Margaret died in the evening of December 22, 2017, at Presbyterian Homes of Johanna Shores. She was 7 days shy of her 98th birthday.
Margaret was born in New York City on December 29, 1919 to Louis Stephen and Catherine Killeen Corsiglia. She married Charles C. Cavanna on May 27, 1939 at Transfiguration Church in New York City. Margaret was a homemaker all of her life devoted to her children’s upbringing and education. She belonged to many organizations involving her children and their activities in church and school.
She was married to Charles, her husband of 66 years. They moved to Minnesota to be close to their son and his family. Margaret and Charles lived in Waconia, Minnesota, from 1983 to 1990 when they moved to St. Cloud. After Charles’ death in 2006, Margaret lived in St. Benedict’s Senior Community from 2006 to 2015 where she made many friends. At the time of her death she was living in Rose Arbor, an Assisted Living Community in Maple Grove.
Margaret is survived by one son: Robert (Regina) of Shoreview; one daughter, Diane Vaccaro (Manny) of Staten Island, New York; three grandchildren: Alison (Christopher), Diane Catherine (William) and Megan (Benjamin); seven great grandchildren, William, Valerie, Abigail, Mabel, Linus, Spencer and Porter.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Catherine Corsiglia; husband, Charles; half-sister Mae Dwyer and half-brother, Michael McGlynn.
