     Phillip Julian Stavos, Age 95, of Sauk Rapids, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
    Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Church of The Good Shepherd, Sauk Rapids, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Clearwater. Arrangements are with Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud.
     Phillip was born on April 10, 1921 in Elbow Lake, MN to Harry and Lillie (Johnson) Stavos. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. Phillip married Della M. Murray on Oct. 18, 1942 in Elbow Lake, MN and were married until her death in 2011. He married Shirley Friebe on March 14, 2016 at the Good Shepherd Community, Sauk Rapids, MN. Phillip farmed from 1945-1963 when he moved to St. Cloud where he worked in building maintenance at St. Cloud State University from 1963-1986. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, camping, fishing, car racing, traveling, and volunteering at the Good Shepherd Community.
     Survivors include his wife Shirley Friebe of Little Falls, MN; children,
    Gary Stavos of Minneapolis, MN; Lionel (Diane) Stavos of Avon, MN; Karen Scofield of Foley, MN; Dennis (Fran) Stavos of St. Cloud; Lynn (Sherri) Stavos of Web City, MO; Bonnie (Richard) Duea of Hollister, FL; Nancy (Charles) Kalscheuer of St. Cloud, MN; Lyle (Annette) Stavos of Oak Park, MN; and Dan (Cindy) Stavos of St. Cloud; 23 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Lillie; brothers, Harland and Lester; sisters, Lila, Blanche, Julia, Dorothy.
