Marcus Neil Holt, age 79, Sartell, MN died Friday, December 16, 2016, surrounded by family, at The Legends at Heritage Place, Sartell, MN.
Funeral services will be Monday, December 19, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Atonement Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at the church on Monday. Burial will be at a later date . Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
Marcus was born June 7, 1937 in Northfield, MN to Joseph and Judith (Johnson) Holt. He married Janell K. Medhaug on October 18, 1958 at Bergen Lutheran Church in Geneseo, ND.
After graduating from high school Marcus attended a course at the University of Minnesota for Architecture. Marcus served in the Minnesota National Guard for 8 years. He then went to work for Franklin Manufacturing in Minneapolis in 1960. When the company moved their office to St. Cloud in 1968, Marcus moved his family to St. Cloud. Marcus retired from Electrolux in 1998 after working for them for 38 years. He was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church. Marcus was involved in Youth Hockey from its beginnings. He served as a coach and coached his son for many years. Marcus enjoyed golf, working with Habitat for Humanity, taking walks, bowling and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Janell Holt of Sartell, MN; son, Steven (Bonnie) Holt of Little Falls, MN; daughters, Pauline (Ron) Miller of Sartell, MN; and Kris (Paul) Barnett of Highland Village, TX; brother, Daryl (Jean) Holt of Elk River, MN; sister-in-law, Delores Holt of Becker, MN; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Judith Holt, brother, Virgil Holt, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Marvin and Marie Medhaug, and brother-in-law, Galen Medhaug.
