Lester “Les” Nelson, age 79, St. Cloud, MN died Monday, March 28, 2005 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 1, 2005 at Calvary Community Church, St. Cloud, MN. Rev. David Huffman will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
Les was born August 2, 1925 in Minneapolis, MN to Edward & Blanche (Lee) Nelson. He served in the United States Marine Corps in the South Pacific during World War II. Returning home, he married Evelyn Dahlin in Broadway Covenant Church, Minneapolis, MN. He lived his first 53 years in Minneapolis. His employer, Dayton's, transferred him to the St. Cloud store in 1977 where he retired in 1987. After retirement, he moved to his lake home near Bigfork, MN and spent the winters in Winter Haven, Florida, moving back to St. Cloud in 1995. He was a member of Calvary Community Church, St. Cloud.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn of St. Cloud, MN; daughter, Nancy (Carl) Brady of Plymouth, MN; two grandsons, Robert (Melissa) and Steven; two great -granddaughters, Hailey & Emma; one brother, Kenneth (Bernice) Nelson.
