     Lucille “Lou” A. Nelson, age 91, Waite Park, MN died Friday, January 1, 2016 at her home.
     Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, January 4, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Church, Waite Park, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Burial will be Calvary Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
     Lucille was born January 6, 1924 in St. Cloud, MN to John & Agatha (Czerniak) Holovnia. She graduated from St. Cloud Tech High School in 1941. Lucille married Frederick N. Nelson on May 11, 1946 at St. John’s Cantius, St. Cloud, MN. She lived in St. Cloud and Waite Park most of her married life. Lucille worked for Fire and Marine Insurance Company, St. Paul, MN, JC Penneys and Apollo High School, St. Cloud. She was a member of Waite Park Senior Citizens, American Legion Auxiliary Post 428, Waite Park, Christian Women of St. Joseph Church and St. Joseph’s Church, Waite Park for more than 63 years. Lucille loved working with flower gardens, sewing, knitting, playing cards with friends and Saturday morning coffee clutches with friends, spending time at their cottage on Watab Lake and time spent with family especially the grandkids.
     Survivors include her husband, Frederick Nelson of Waite Park, MN; children, Patricia A. Nelson of Apple Valley, MN; William (Maura) Nelson of Brooklyn Park, MN; Robert Nelson of Las Vegas, NV; Mary Short of St. Cloud, MN; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sisters, Helen Conroy of St. Cloud, MN; Monica Zinken of St. Cloud, MN.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, daughters, Barbara in 1953 and Bonita in 1975, brothers, Zigmund Holovnia, Bill Holovnia, Sylvester Holovnia, sisters, Bernice Gapinski, Genevieve Zawiskak, Elizabeth Kusz, and Mary Wedl.
     Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
