Edward Joseph Ritter, age 91, St. Cloud, MN, died Sunday, December 13, 2015 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Funeral services will be Monday, December 21, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Church of Christ, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Roseville, MN.
Edward was born April 19, 1924 in Chokio, MN to Jerome and Ethel (Noll) Ritter. He married Alberta C. Schuster on November 27, 1946 in Chokio, MN. Edward served in the United States Army during WWII stationed in Okinawa, Japan and Korea. He farmed for 20 years at Chokio, MN. Edward then returned to school at the age of 42 and became a traffic safety engineer’s aid. He worked for the City of Bloomington for over 20 years before retiring in 1989. Edward was a member of St. Cloud Church of Christ and the Rosemount Legion. He was an inventor and tinker and could make or repair just about anything. Edward loved visiting with family and friends and telling stories of the good ole days. He had the extraordinary ability to remember important dates of family and friends. If he learned your birthday he would likely surprise you with a call or card. All who knew Edward will remember him as a loving husband and father, who was kind and generous, with a great sense of humor and a big heart.
Survivors include children David (Beth) Ritter of Brainerd, MN; Beverly (Loren) Terlisner of St. Cloud, MN; Jerome (Susan)Ritter of St. Paul, MN; Connie (Jeff) Bennett of Honolulu, HI; Barb (Ken) Wiggins of St. Cloud, MN; Joel (Seeta) Ritter of Rosemount, MN; brother Vincent (Virginia) Ritter of Chokio, MN; sister, Joan (Herbert) Karpinsky of North Mankato, MN; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Alberta on March 9, 2010, son James Ritter, and siblings, Veronica Golombiecki, Robert Ritter, Eileen Riley and Fabian Ritter. |
