     Valeria “Val” Cecilia Gross, age 90, St. Cloud, MN, died Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Quiet Oaks Hospice House, St. Augusta, MN.
     A service celebrating the life of Val Gross will be held at Benson Funeral Home on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 10:30 AM. Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour before the service. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN.
     Val was born to Edward and Cecilia (Knese) Ferkinhoff in St. Cloud on December 25, 1924. She graduated from Cathedral High School in St. Cloud in 1943 and received her nursing degree (RN) in 1946 from St. Gabriel’s School of Nursing in Little Falls. Val married Robert Gross on September 3, 1946 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in St. Cloud. She worked as a nurse at the St. Cloud Hospital, the VA Hospital and completed her career as the industrial nurse for the Burlington Northern Waite Park Car Shop, retiring in 1981.
     She was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral, VFW Women’s Auxiliary, Waite Park American Legion, St. Margaret’s Society of Christian Mothers of St. Mary’s Cathedral, and volunteer for various parish activities.
     Val is survived by her husband, Bob, and her children, Judith (Bruce) Moberg of St. Cloud, MN, Patricia (Dave) Senogles of New Brighton, MN, Sharon (Todd) Sommers of Allen, TX, David (Margie) Gross of Sauk Rapids, MN, and Brian (Sheela) Gross of St. Cloud, MN; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, brother Jim (Marion) Ferkinhoff of St. Cloud, MN.
     She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Cletus Ferkinhoff.
     Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to: Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls, MN, Poor Clare Monastery in Sauk Rapids, MN, or Quiet Oak Hospice House in St. Augusta, MN.
