John L. Clour, age 89 of St. Cloud died Friday, September 18, 2015 at his home.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2015 from 1-3 PM at the Benson Funeral Home Chapel, St. Cloud. Burial will be at the Benton County Cemetery, Sauk Rapids, MN.
John was born on July 24, 1926 in St. Cloud, MN to Ernest and Agnes (Carlson) Clour. John served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII before returning to St. Cloud where he began working for Burlington Northern Railroad as a Signalman Maintainer. John Worked for the Railroad for 39 years retiring in 1986. John was married to Anita Helgedalen on April 1, 1950 in Webster, SD. He enjoyed all animals including stuffed animals, spending time outdoors in the sun, going on pontoon rides, visiting with friends at all the area Perkins restaurants, and more than anything spending time with his family. John will be remembered for his sense of humor and being a “storyteller and exaggerator extraordinaire “. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, and a life member of the Eastside VFW Post 4847.
Survivors include his children, Charles M. (Veronica) Clour of St. Cloud, MN; Thomas W. Clour of Seattle, WA; Gloria (Randy) Hovland of Titusville, FL; and three grandchildren, Leigha and Nicole Hovland and Andreya Clour.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Anita on Oct. 30, 2010, daughter, Laura; brother, Charles W. Clour and sister, Anne Steman.
