    LORETTA D. SHERER, 91
    Little Falls, MN
    January 8, 1924 - June 18, 2015

Loretta D. Sherer, age 91, Little Falls, MN formerly of Sartell, MN died peacefully on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at the St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud, MN surrounded by her family.
A celebration of Loretta’s life will be held Saturday, August 15, 2015 from 12:00 (NOON) to 4:00 PM at Val Smith Park in Sartell, MN. Burial will be in Oakhill Cemetery, Sartell, MN. Arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
Loretta was born January 8, 1924 in Lastrup, MN to Henry and Rose (Pfleipsen) Poepping. She was their 7th child, so there was plenty of company. After her birth there were 4 more siblings born. It must have been a good bloodline because most lived to a good old age! These brothers and sisters were her friends for life.
Loretta married James D. Sherer on February 12, 1942 in Sauk Rapids, MN. Soon after they married, Jim built for her their 1st home. This was one of many remodeling projects that she learned to handle. For her entire married life from that 1st home to her last, she was the Chief picker-upper and Head organizer behind Jim’s projects. Along with raising children, cleaning house, washing clothes, Loretta made time to sew her clothes and her children’s clothes. She taught the girls to sew, pluck a chicken, and got them to Sunday School. Loretta also taught them in German to use select words for dressing down their playmates. Although raising four daughters was at times challenging, she made sure that each one of her girls received all the love and attention she could give them. After the girls were older Loretta volunteered for the Salvation Army in St. Cloud for many years. For relaxing Loretta belonged to a Birthday Card Club for many years. Whenever her friends or children visited a friendly poker game was a must. When she traveled Mom would always pack her poker stash! Loretta and Jim would take a yearly fishing trip up in the Boundary waters. She could fry fish with the best of them. It was nothing for her to fry up a whole mess of fish for a dozen people.
In 1993 Jim and Loretta left their home in Sartell to move to Lake Crystal outside of Pelican Rapids. While living in this area Jim and Loretta made many new friends and settled into a partial retirement. After 15 years at Lake Crystal, Jim and Loretta moved to Clitherall to accept the challenge of another house that needed them.
Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Sherer of Rapid City, SD; Pam (Tom) Schneider of Brainerd, MN; Linda (Earl) Philippi of Clitherall, MN; and Jami (Vern) Capelle of Little Falls, MN; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; brother and sister, Joe (Elaine) Poepping of Sauk Rapids, MN and Iyone Tollefson of Hoyt Lakes, MN
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jim on August 3, 2014, four brothers, Walter Poepping, Sr., Ed Poepping, Victor Poepping, Nick Poepping, four sisters, Lou Ann Prziborowski, Leona Kessler, Rosie Bloch, and Marie Poepping.
Mom, We Love You and Will Miss You.
