Evelyn Wicklund Watkins, age 100, St. Cloud, MN, died Monday, March 2, 2015 at St. Benedicts Senior Community, St. Cloud, MN.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church, St. Cloud, MN. Rev. Darin Seaman will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at church on Thursday. Burial will be in North Star Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN. Arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
Evelyn was born October 13, 1914 in Northome, MN to Albert and Jenny (Carlson) Wicklund. She married Richard Watkins on November 19, 1935 in St. Cloud, MN. Evelyn was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Ev loved to travel and fish with her husband, Richard. They lived on Mille Lacs Lake for several years and also wintered for a few years at Lake Mohave Resort west of Bullhead City, AZ. She and Richard enjoyed playing cards with friends, along with traveling with Richard to duck, goose, deer and moose hunting areas. Ev enjoyed her grandchildren. She was a kind and caring woman.
Survivors include son, Donald (Jan) Watkins of St. Cloud, MN; brothers and sisters, Arnold (Millie) Wicklund of Cold Spring, MN; James (Linda) Wicklund of Clear Lake, MN; Bernice Salmela of Hastings, MN; Edna “Dolly” Swenson of Sartell, MN; Audrey (Ed) Zins of St. Cloud, MN; 5 grandchildren, Beth (Craig) Adamek, Jill (Robert) Holman, Pam (Tom) Schulz, Jon (Kari) Watkins and Denae (Mike) McDevitt; and 15 great grandchildren, Zach, Alex, Adam, Drew, Nic, Grace, Brady, Anna, Caraline, Charlie, Tate, Tani, Liam, Caden, and Adelyn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard on June 10, 1970, son, Dennis Watkins, and sister, Cleo Anderson.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to St. Benedict's Senior Community or First Presbyterian Church.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the St. Cloud Hospital and St. Benedict’s Senior Community Staffs for their kindness and care that they provided for Evelyn. |
