    Gerald O. Hammerlind, age 80, Minnetonka, MN formerly of St. Cloud and Duluth, MN, died Monday, January 10, 2005 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis, MN
     Funeral services will be Saturday, January 15, 2005 at 11:00 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in North Star Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
     Gerald Hammerlind was born April 6, 1924 in Duluth, MN to Per and Hildur (Sohlstrom) Hammerlind. He graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1942. He married Solveig M. Lund on August 16, 1947. After serving his country during World War II, Gerald was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Company until his retirement in 1982. He has been employed by Byerly’s of Minnetonka for the past 10 years. During his lifetime Gerald was an active member of Sertoma of which he is a past regional governor. Gerald was also a member of Sons of Norway. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, bridge, sports, fishing, and especially family and friends.
     Survivors include his wife, Solveig Hammerlind of Minnetonka, MN; son, Bruce Hammerlind of Hopkins, MN; daughter, Mary (Dave) Jaffray of Deephaven, MN; brother, Allen Hammerlind of Richfield, MN; and two grandchildren, Ben and Peter Jaffray.
     He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Hammerlind, on July 14, 1974.
