     Marvin Arlo Ronning, age 78, Elk River, MN, died Monday, April 28, 2014 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, St. Cloud, MN.
     Funeral services will be Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 11:30 AM at the Veterans Administration Medical Center Chapel, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the chapel on Saturday. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
     Marvin was born December 9, 1935 in Boyd, MN to Kermit and Florence (Clausen) Ronning. He served in the United States Army form 1958 to 1960. On July 4, 1962 Marvin was united in marriage to Gertrude “Gertie” Mary Brenny in Brennyville, MN. Marvin was an appliance service technician for over 40 years. Marvin and Gertrude spent 22 years in Montana. He loved the mountains and enjoyed flower gardening. Marvin was a meticulous handyman and carpenter.
     Survivors include his wife, Gertie Ronning of Elk River, MN; daughters, Michelle Ronning of Andover, MN; and Carolyn Thompson of Fife, WA; sister, Helen Struck of Foley, MN; two grandchildren, Marissa and Mason Chaska of Andover, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Robert, Robbie and Ronald, sister, Christine Ann, two infant brothers, and his dog, Nicki.
