Laurell “Dodie” Roxine Stachowski, age 83, St. Cloud, MN, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at St. Benedict’s Senior Community, St. Cloud, MN from a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease and complications from a hip fracture.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 10:30 AM at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
Dodie was born September 24, 1930 in Foley, MN to Thurston and Clara (Rhode) DeLong. She married Arthur J. Stachowski on June 12, 1950 in Brennyville, MN. Dodie was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and Holy Spirit Mission Group. She loved playing cards, dancing, fishing, gardening and spending time with family. Dodie especially enjoyed holidays and decorating for Christmas. She was very witty and possessed a great sense of humor.
Survivors include sons and daughter, Paul (Katherine) Stachowski of Onalaska, WI; Steven Stachowski of Fergus Falls, MN; Gene Stachowski of Palm Springs, CA; Julie (Donald) Ramler of St. Joseph, MN; brother, Russell (Orpha) DeLong of St. Cloud, MN; six grandchildren, Joseph, Jason and Stephen (Michelle) Stachowski, Nadya Mamlock, and Katie and Eric Jorgenson; and four great granddaughters, Anna, Kaitlyn, Brooklyn and Savannah.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arthur on June 29, 1986, and daughter-in-law, Diane Stachowski.
Memorials are preferred.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Cristina at East Commons at Country Manor and to the staff of St. Benedict’s Center Special Care Unit, especially, Collette, Nancy, Melanie and Dr. George Schoephoerster for the kindness and care they gave to Dodie. |
