     LaVon “Ed” Erickson, age 79 of Waite Park, MN died Saturday, October 26, 2013 surrounded by his family at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids, MN
     Memorial services will be Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Entombment will be in Bethlehem Lutheran Church Columbium. Arrangements are with Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN
     Ed was born August 17, 1934 in Eden Lake Township, near Paynesville, MN to George and Esther (Liestman) Erickson. He graduated from Paynesville High School and served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956. Ed married Emogene Brekke on June 30, 1957 at St. Matthews Evangelical and Reformed Church in Forest City, MN. Ed was employed at First National Bank, Minneapolis, MN, Anoka State Bank, Anoka, MN, Marquette National Bank, Minneapolis, MN and retired from Collins Credit Union, Cedar Rapids, IA in December of 1996.
     Ed was a Scout Master, taught Jr. Achievement, served as a church council leader, provided financial mentorship to the elderly and volunteered for the food shelf. His hobbies included; fishing, hunting, bowling, golfing, trap-shooting, wood-working, yard work, writing memoirs and stories, and traveling the USA. Ed was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN.
     Survivors include his wife, Genie Erickson of Waite Park, MN; sons, Brian (Randi) of Elk River, MN; Brad (Pam) of Elk River, MN; Bruce (Kelly) of Bonney Lake, WA; daughter, Julie (Randy) Krebs of Sauk Rapids, MN; 7 grandchildren, Casey, Jennifer, Penny, Barry, Jared, Josh, and Ryan; and 3 great grandchildren, Braeden, Rylan, and Lilli; and one sister, Ardys Larsen of Woodbury, MN.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother-in-law, Willard.
     Memorials preferred.
