Delbert “Del” Ross Hannah, Jr., age 78, St. Cloud, MN, died May 17, 2013 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at the St. Cloud VFW Post #428. A reflection of Del’s life will be at 4:00 PM and a VFW Prayer service will be at 6:00 PM at the VFW Post. Interment will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud,MN.
Del was born April 24, 1935 in Minot, ND to Delbert R. and Maria J. (Dean) Hannah, Sr. He attended schools in Grand Rapids, MN; Billings, MT and Yreka, CA. Del married Dorothy “Willma” Laufer on October 10, 1953 in Yreka, CA. He served in the United States Army as Military Police from 1957 to 1959. Del was employed as a police officer for the St. Cloud Police Department for 21 years retiring in 1988. He also worked as an EMT for Murphy Ambulance. Del was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Willma Hannah of St. Cloud, MN; son and daughters, Cheri (Harald) Seiler of Augusta, WV; Robert (Laura) Hannah of Clearwater, MN; Judi Melin of St. Cloud, MN; brother, Marvin (Mary) Hannah of Minneapolis, MN; eight grandchildren,Valerie (James) Leidy, Vincent Christy, Kira (Troy) Fowler, Eric Melin, Samantha Melin, Hannah Melin, Jeremy Steinemann (fiancé, Amanda Poepping), and Nathan Steinemann (fiancé, Jennifer Dingman); and five great grandchildren, Jordyn Leidy, Noah Melin, Calie Steinman, Madison Hengel and Makayla Steinemann.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials preferred to Kidney Dialysis or the Kidney Foundation.
