Kenneth Henry Behrendt, age 95, Sartell, MN, formerly of St. Cloud, MN, died Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Legends at Heritage Place, Sartell, MN.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Salem Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be Monday, April 1, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Sauk Rapids, MN.
Kenneth was born November 17, 1917 in St. Cloud, MN to Otto W. and Martha H. (Walk) Behrendt. He married Marjorie C. Schmidt on January 1, 1942 at Salem Lutheran Church in St. Cloud. Kenneth served in the United States Army during World War II, during which he received the Bronze Star. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and St. Cloud Eastside VFW Post #4847.
Survivors include his children, Larry (Judy) Behrendt of St. Cloud, MN; Sandy (Vernon) Kleinschmidt of Sartell, MN; sisters, Elaine Danielson of Lafayette, CO; Lorraine Wietecki of St. Paul, MN; three grandchildren, Chris Kleinschmidt, Tracy Svien and Tina Beunning; and six great grandchildren, Summer, Megan, Tyler, Madison, Brooke and Brianna.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marjorie on September 3, 1986, brothers, Alfred and Albert Behrendt, sisters, Eleanor Schmidtbauer and Virginia Lezer, great granddaughter, Kayla, and long time friend, Louise VanNurden.
