Ruth Caroline Nordin, age 91, Sun Prairie, WI, formerly of St. Cloud, MN, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Sunny Hill Health Care Center, Madison, WI.
A private family service will be held Monday, March 18 at Bashford United Methodist Church, Madison, WI. Burial will be in Gethsemane Lutheran Cemetery, Upsala, MN. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
Ruth was born October 13, 1921 in Duluth, MN to Hjalmer and Elsie (Andersson) Sterling. She married Nels O. Nordin on May 17, 1942 in South Dakota. Ruth was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church of St. Cloud, past president of the St. Cloud School District PTA, active in League of Women Voters for over 40 years and was an election judge for over 40 years.
Survivors include her daughters, Barbara (Randy) Stapelmann, Madison, WI; Linda (Richard) Johnson, St. Paul, MN; two sisters, Mary (Myron) Nelson, Castle Rock, WA and Ramona (Ron) Johnson, Elgin, IL; one grandson, Michael (Jennifer) Stapelmann; stepchildren, Beverly Romfo, Plymouth, MN; Joe Kowalski, Gurnee, IL; and eight step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Nels, brother, David Sterling, and step children, Glenn Romfo and Marie Kowalski.
The family would like to thank the Sunny Hill Health Care Center and Agrace Hospice Care for making Ruth’s last days comfortable.
