Daniel Lewis LaFountaine, age 25, Albuquerque, NM, formerly of St. Cloud, MN, died unexpectedly Tuesday, February 26, 2013 in Truth or Consequences, NM.
Funeral services will be Monday, March 4, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Salem Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be Sunday, March 3, 2013 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Dan was born April 21, 1987 in St. Cloud, MN to Michael and Janna (Larson) LaFountaine. He excelled at and graduated from St. Cloud Apollo High School and Grinnell College (IA) before moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Dan was employed as a director of operations in the home health care field in Albuquerque. Dan is remembered by all for always being in a conversation about politics, loving a good argument, problem solving ability, never ending discussions and his high intelligence. His talents and achievements will be remembered forever by his many teachers, coaches, and classmates in orchestra, FPS, athletic teams and particularly by his tennis teammates, and opponents alike. Dan cherished traditions, especially his grandmother’s Swedish meatballs and rice pudding at Christmas and family week every summer in Park Rapids with the Schwegmans and Allens. His life changed when he spent a semester studying in Egypt, returning with a true worldview. Competition was a joy for Dan whether in ping pong, cribbage, on the basketball or tennis court, or putt putt.
Dan leaves behind his loving grandparents, Phil and Jo Larson of Edina, MN; parents, Mike and Janna LaFountaine, brother Joe, and sister, Bo of St. Cloud, MN; partner, Sean Parker of Albuquerque, NM; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lloyd and Ida LaFountaine.
Dan loved meeting new people leaving those who hardly knew him with a strong impression. Those of us lucky enough to spend time with him will forever remember his quick laughter, smile and loving heart.
Memorials are preferred to Grinnell College Tennis or Apollo High School scholarship fund. |
