     Joyce Ann “Oma” Nelson, age 61, St. Cloud, MN died Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud, MN.
     Visitation will be held at the Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN on Tuesday, January 8, 2013. The family invites you to visit from 1:00 - 3:00 PM. A brief memorial service will be held at 3:00pm, followed by food and beverages. Private burial will be at the Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery, Kingston, MN.
     Joyce was born January 28, 1951 in St. Paul, MN to Donald K. and Erva M. (Lippert) Warner. She married Gene W. Nelson on April 26, 1975 in Minneapolis, MN. Joyce was the former owner of the St. Cloud Stride Rite Shoe Store, and most recently worked at the family business, Synatrix. She was very active in Dog Rescues, and believed in volunteering and supported many organizations. Even in death, she continues to help others with her gift of organ donation. Joyce’s crowning achievement was being the world’s greatest Oma, and was affectionately known by many as Mama Joyce.
     Survivors include her husband, Gene Nelson of St. Cloud, MN; daughter, Erika (David W.) Yancey of Austin, TX; brothers, Gerald (Emmy) Warner of San Diego, CA; Christopher (Mike Beavers) Warner of Anoka, MN; one grandson, Gaige W. Yancey.
     She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Grant W. Nelson on July 29, 2001; and the many dogs she fostered.
     In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Secondhand Hounds; Red Lake Rosie Rescue, or Anna Marie Alliance.
