Stanley G. Gallus, age 85, died Sunday, November 14, 2004 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, St. Cloud, MN.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, November 19, 2004 at 10:30 AM at
St. Augustine Catholic Church. Fr. Alfred Stangl will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday, November 18, 2004 from 4:00 to 9:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one half hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. VFW Post #428 prayer service will be at 6:00 PM, a family rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM followed by parish prayers at 7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN.
Stanley Gallus was born May 7, 1919 in Bellview, MN to Mathew and Hedwig (Fussy) Gallus. He married Lorraine Frances Bobick on October 1, 1946 at St. Stanilaus Catholic Church in Bowlus, MN. Stan served in the Armed Forces from 1939 to 1945 and was stationed overseas. He worked a short time as a nurse’s aide at the St. Cloud VA Hospital. After that, he began his life’s calling of auto body repair, operating his own Stan’s Body Shop for the next 30 years. Prior to retiring in 1981, Stan also worked as an insurance adjustor for six years and Enterprise Care Rental for five years. Stan was a lifetime member of St. Cloud VFW Post #428 and St. Cloud American Legion Post #76, a bowler and member of St. Cloud Men’s Bowlers Assoc. for over 40 years, a member of Catholic Aid Assoc., and a member ot St. Augustine Catholic Church. Stan loved to fish, travel, play cards and loved being around his family.
Stan is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Lorraine “Lorrie”; children, Sharon (Frank) Bucar of Duluth, MN; Ronald (Goldie) Gallus of St. Cloud, MN; Donald Gallus of Glyndon, MN; Barb (Ken) Rybicki of Lebanon, OR; Rose Anne (Dr. Scott) Jackson of Chandler, AZ; and twins, Deanna (Troy) Goers of Roswell, GA and Donna Garcia (fiancé Dave Thompson) of St. Michael, MN; 13 grandchildren, twin granddaughters, Barb (Dan) Hudson of Blaine, MN and Brenda (Rob) Jacobs, of Blaine, MN; Frank B. Bucar of Duluth, MN; Eli McCoy of Littleton, CO; Ryan Gallus, Jeremy Gallus (fiancé Sherri Day) and Jason Gallus all of St. Cloud, MN; Amanda Golembeck of Rosewell, GA, Denise Bucar of Duluth, MN, Ashley, Lyndsay and Hayley Jackson of Chandler, AZ; Brianne Rybicki of Lebanon, OR and two great grandchildren, Hannah and Nathan Hudson of Blaine, MN; three sisters, Doris Ball of New York; Ann Stang of St. Cloud, MN; Florence Hommerding of Sauk Rapids, MN; brother, Mathew (MaryAnn) Gallus of North Prairie, MN and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, John, Clarence and Paul Gallus and sisters, Agnes Czeck and Mary DeZurik.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Gallus, Jeremy Gallus, Barb Hudson, Brenda Jacobs, Jim Stangler and Frank B. Bucar. |
