Rubell Wilhelmina (Thayer) Sutton, age 85, St. Cloud, MN died Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Sterling Park Health Care Center, Waite Park, MN.
There will be no services. Burial will be in North Star Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
Rubell was born September 13, 1926 in Benson, MN to Gustav and Ida (Behl) Thayer. She graduated from Benson High School in 1944. Rubell attended St. Cloud Teachers College for a while. On June 5, 1948, Rubell was united in marriage to Charles Kenneth Sutton at the First Presbyterian Church in St. Cloud, MN. She worked for Veterans Affairs to support Ken for a while. Rubell returned to college and graduated in 1960 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from St. Cloud State College. She was employed by Social Security for 27 years until her retirement in 1987. Rubell was a life member VFW Post #428 Auxiliary, St. Cloud. She enjoyed golfing and traveling in her earlier years, then became a duplicate contract bridge player in later years.
Survivors include a daughter, Mona Sutton of St. Cloud, MN; twin brother, Reynard Thayer of Benson, MN; sisters: Sherane (Thayer) Johnson of Anoka, MN; Grace (Thayer) Grimes of White Lake, WI; and Colleen (Thayer) O’Neil-Kirsch of Redwood City, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Ken, on September 13, 2007.
