    February 4, 1921 ~ July 27, 2012

Betty Jeanne (Strassburg) Lund, 91, of Waite Park, MN, died peacefully at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home, Sauk Rapids, MN, surrounded by loved ones, on July 27, 2012.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 4, 2012 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN.
Betty Jeanne Strassburg was born February 4, 1921 to Julius and Alma (Larson) Strassburg on the family farm near Luverne, MN.
Betty was born and raised on a farm adjacent to what is now Blue Mounds State Park in Rock County, Minnesota. She attended and graduated from Luverne High School. For a period during World War II she worked for The Douglas Aircraft Company in Long Beach, California. After the war she moved back to Luverne and married Lloyd Lund on August 14, 1946. On their honeymoon road tour of Minnesota Betty & Lloyd drove through St. Cloud and decided it would be a good place to raise their family. They later moved to St. Cloud and lived there between 1950 and 1970. From 1970 to 2006 they resided in Monticello where they made friends and were active in the community until they moved back to the St. Cloud area in 2006 to be closer to three of their adult children and their families. Betty was active in her children's development through the Campus Lab PTA, Cub Scouts and Camp Fire Girls. She was a two time American Legion Auxiliary President in Monticello. After Lloyd's retirement they traveled with friends to various winter destinations and finally set up winter residence in Tucson. She loved her family and friends and until the end had a smile on her face when people stopped by for conversation.
Survivors include her children: Linda (Mike) Patton, John (Karen Krey) Lund, Jeff (Monica Reede) Lund and Leanne (Peter) Douglass; five grandchildren, Aaron (Sarah Larson) Patton, Matthew (Carrie) Patton, Cooper Lund, Allison Bea Lund and Flora Douglass; four great grandchildren, Zoë, Steven, Stella and Zachary; and sister, Joy Gibson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lloyd Lund on September 8, 2010, four brothers, Elmer, Floyd, Robert and Earl, and an infant brother Norval.
The family would like to express our gratitude to the staff of Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids for their care and attention in making her final weeks pleasant and comfortable.
