Jerome “Jerry” Reinhard Poepping, age 81, St. Cloud, MN, died Sunday, July 22, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, July 26, 2012 at 10:30 AM at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 25, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Parish prayers will be at 5:00 PM at the funeral home on Wednesday. Burial, with full military honors, will be in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN.
Jerry was born September 10, 1930 in Melrose, MN to Henry and Ida (Luken) Poepping. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1948 to 1952. On September 23, 1952 Jerry was united in marriage to Rita J. Bussmann in Melrose, MN. He worked for Brown Wilbert (formerly Chandler Wilbert) Vault Company for 37 years, retiring in 1992. Jerry was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, a life member of Melrose VFW Post #7050, and a member of Sauk Centre American Legion Post #67.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Poepping of St. Cloud, MN; sons and daughters, Gary (Judy) Poepping of Brooklyn Center, MN: James (Mary) Poepping of St. Cloud, MN; Robert Poepping of St. Cloud, MN; Brian (Robin) Poepping of St. Cloud, MN; Beverly Delong of St. Cloud, MN; Sandy (Mike) Cruzen of St. Cloud, MN; Debra (Paul) Theisen of St. Cloud MN; Pamela (Greg) Schultz of Rice, MN; Shannon (Mike) Anderson of Clear Lake, MN; brothers and sisters, Joseph Poepping of Sauk Centre, MN; Alfred Poepping of St. Cloud, MN; Betty Thies of Cold Spring, MN; Bernadine Ramler of Richmond, MN; 31 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, daughter, Sharon “Sherri” Harris, three brothers, Norbert, Frank and Ralph Poepping, and one sister, Marie Thomas. |
