    BOBBY LEROY PERSEN, 97
    Sartell
    March 25, 1915 ~ July 9, 2012

Bobby Leroy Persen, age 97, died on Monday, July 9, 2012 at Country Manor in Sartell, MN
Celebration of Life service will be Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. Rev. Dee Pederson will officiate. Interment will be in the columbarium at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with full military honors.
Bobby was born March 25, 1915 in Willmar, MN, the son of Matilda Weber and P. J. Persen. He attended elementary/high school in Willmar and then proceeded to St. Peter, MN where he attended Gustavus Adolphus College. Bobby went to work for Bartles-Scott Oil Company in Willmar and then to Pure Oil Company. He married Helyn Madsen who passed away in 1980. Bob lived in Minneapolis a short time and was drafted into the army and served in the 445th Ordnance Company in the 7th Army during WWII, serving from 1944-1946. He continued in the oil business in both Minneapolis, MN and Madison, WI until he moved to St. Cloud in 1956 where he owned and operated St. Cloud Auto Supply until his retirement in 1978. Bobby married Esther Boucher on March 5, 1982. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Waite Park American Legion Post #428 and St. Cloud Eagles Aerie #622.
Bobby will be remembered for his sense of humor (and very long jokes), always having a smile on his face, his joy for life, his good nature and his affinity for breaking into song at the drop of a hat. (I do believe the staff at Country Manor will best remember Dad's quest for the perfect hair part down the middle of his head).
In his younger years, Bobby enjoyed hunting and fishing with his buddies, spending time with his family at his lake homes, golfing, bowling, playing cards and cribbage, and traveling - visiting various places in the United States and around the world. After retirement, he and Esther enjoyed spending winters in Florida.
In recent years, he treasured every moment he spent with his wife, Esther, who he loved and cherished. He also looked forward to spending time with his family members and his friends and the staff at Country Manor.
He is survived by his loving wife, Esther, his devoted daughter, Julie Sell, sister, Hazel Walker, son-in-law, Ken Lacher, step children, Allan and Kathy Boucher, Jim and Karolyn Boucher, Bill and Adeline Boucher, Betty and Paul Bartyzal, Adeline and Harvey Sebelius, Jean Boucher, and all of his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Bobby was preceeded in death by his parents, first wife, Helyn, daughters, Patricia Lacher and Joyce Finneman, sister, Phyl Gardner and great grandson Jeremy Finneman.
A special thank you to the staff and residents of Country Manor Villa Apartments where Bobby and Esther have resided for the last 3 1/2 years. Thank you also to all the staff at the County Manor Rehab unit who took care of Bobby during his rehab stays. Everyone at Country Manor made his life more comfortable and enjoyable.
Bobby was so special to all of us who loved and cherished him. He will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Lupus Foundation or the Coborn Cancer Center.
