Patrick Francis Olberding, age 60, St. Cloud, MN, died Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Queen of the Valley Hospital, West Covina, CA.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, July 20, 2012 at 1:30 PM at St. Augustine Catholic Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be Thursday, July 19, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the funeral home on Thursday. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN.
Pat was born March 29, 1952 in Melrose, MN to Arthur and Angeline (Riley) Olberding. He grew up in St. Cloud. Pat attended St. Augustine Catholic grade school and graduated from Cathedral High School. He received a Bachelor degree from St. Cloud State University. After working many years in corporate business, Pat decided to pursue his love of travel by becoming a driver for Anderson Trucking Service, where he worked for the past eight years. Pat was proud of his membership in Alcoholics Anonymous and his 25 years of sobriety. He had a passion for cars and he prided himself in his attention to detail. Pat had the wonderful ability to paint pictures with his words as he told his stories, and loved to entertain children with his special gift of ear wiggling. Patrick was an honorable man, who was true to his word and loved his family and friends.
Survivors include brother, Jeffrey Olberding of Pierre, SD; sisters, Jean Lonien of Marshall, MN; and Sara (Todd) Kelly of Pierre, SD; seven nieces and nephews, Kim (Lee) Louwagie, Kurt (Chrissy) Lonien, Kevin (Christy) Lonien, Stephanie “Rae” Theisen, Caitlin Theisen, Riley Kelly and Austin Kelly; six great nieces and nephews; and special friend and companion, June Chute Anderson of St. Cloud, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Sharon Olberding and Laura Theisen-Reilly, and brother-in-law, Charles Lonien.
Memorials are preferred.
Pallbearers will be Tim O’Hara, Cy Kuefler, John Loidolt, Tom Rekowski, Bryan Frana and Jeff Knafla. |
